Chocolate and Peanut Butter come together to make a traditional rice crispy treat even better!
As much as I love chocolate and peanut butter together, I have to admit that Daryl loves it even more than me. When we first met, I honestly thought he was the type that would never eat sweets. Boy, was I wrong. I had him skim my Pinterest account (because he’s thinks Pinterest is only for women ha!) and he pointed to a picture that looked similar to these for me to make for dessert one night. No problem, except I’ve never made any version of crispy treats before! My mom used to make us the original recipe of these when we were kids, but I have never made them for myself. I looked at the original recipe and realized they would be easy to make and just as easy to modify. It took one try to make these super yummy Chocolate Peanut Butter Crispy Treats!
All you have to do is melt a bag of marshmallows and some butter in a bowl in the microwave, then mix in the peanut butter. Press the mixture into a baking dish or pan (use wet hands to make it easier!) and crumble some Reese’s Cups all over the top. Top with melted chocolate and peanut butter chips, cut and serve!
This recipe can easily be modified to suit gluten-free diets as well. Just substitute gluten free crispy cereal!
I had a ton of crispy rice cereal left over, and Jaxon is getting bored with eating it for breakfast so I bought another bag of marshmallows and will be making a new crispy treat dessert soon! As much as I love these Chocolate Peanut Butter Crispy Treats, I’ve already got a bunch of ideas for new flavors swirling around in my head! There is one in particular I must attempt to make first! I’ll share it with you guys as soon as I have it perfected! I may have a whole arsenal of crispy treats before I know it, but I’ll be prepared for just about every holiday or special event you can think of if a last minute, no-thinking-required kinda dessert is needed!

- 3 Tablespoons butter
- 10oz bag marshmallows
- 1/2 Cup peanut butter
- 3 Cups crispy rice cereal *use gluten free if necessary
- 3 Cups chocolate crispy rice cereal * use gluten free if necessary
- 4 Reese's cups chopped
- 1/8 Cup chocolate chips
- 1/8 Cup peanut butter chips
- 2 Tablespoons milk if needed
Butter the inside of a baking dish.
Microwave the marshmallows and butter in a microwave-safe bowl for 2 minutes. Stir and microwave another minute. Stir in peanut butter until smooth. Mix in both crispy rice cereals.
Using wet hands, press the crispy cereal mixture evenly into the baking dish. Top with chopped Reese's cups.
Microwave the chocolate chips until melted, adding 1 Tablespoon of milk, if need, to thin the mixture. Drizzle onto the top of the crispy treats. Repeat with the peanut butter chips. Let cool, cut and serve!
