Frittatas are a great recipe when you are short on time, don’t want to put much time or energy into cooking, or have random leftovers to use up. You can literally throw any meat or vegetable into a frittata and have a delicious meal.
I think of this Keto Frittata with Turkey Sausage and Bacon as more of a breakfast frittata, and other recipes like a Broccoli Cheddar Frittata or an Artichoke Frittata more as brunch or dinner, but really you can have any of them anytime of the day. They are even great for weekly meal prep.
There’s no wrong way or time to enjoy a frittata!
Why This Recipe Works
It’s a quick, easy, one pan meal. You can cook the bacon and sausage in the same pan if not using leftovers. Just be sure to drain the grease before cooking the vegetables.
This savory frittata is a meat lovers dream. It’s made with a combination of turkey sausage and bacon, as well as cheddar cheese, garlic, shallots, and smoked paprika to make it extra flavorful. Using turkey sausage keeps the fat content a bit lower and the frittata is less greasy.
It’s a healthy recipe for those following a low carb or keto diet, as there are only 2 net carbs per slice. It’s also naturally gluten free.
Ingredients
- 8 eggs
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 shallot (minced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 4 turkey sausage patties (cooked and diced)
- 4 slices bacon (cooked and diced)
Chef’s Tip: shred cheddar cheese from a block to avoid the added starch in pre-shredded bagged cheese. Freshly grated cheese also melts better without any gritty texture.
The entire recipe and instructions can also be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post. You can also print the recipe from the card, if needed.

Whisk the eggs, heavy whipping cream, smoked paprika, salt and pepper together in a medium bowl. Stir in the cheese. Set aside.
Melt the butter in a deep oven-proof skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the shallots and garlic and cook 3-4 minutes or until the shallots are softened and beginning to brown.
Add the sausage and bacon and stir to combine, then spread out evenly over the bottom of the pan.
Carefully pour the egg mixture over the top of the meats. Cook an additional 1-2 minutes or just until you can see the frittata starting to set on the edges.
Transfer the frittata to the oven and bake another 12-15 minutes, or until the center is just slightly jiggly. It will set more once it begins cooling.

When do you add the cheese? That seems to be misting from the directions
Lauren Vavala Harris says
So sorry about that Martha – thank you for letting me know that ingredient was missing in the instructions. I went in and edited both the post and the recipe card to show the ingredients under each step. The cheese can be mix into the eggs or even sprinkled on top once they are added to the pan.
