Frankenstein Halloween Candy Apples are adorable, fun-to-make holiday treats for all of your little ghosts and goblins. These easy-to-make apples are dipped in green and decorated with the cutest faces. They are perfect for parties too!

What’s better than candy apples on Halloween? Frankenstein Candy Apple, of course!

These adorable little treats will make both kids and adults excited to bite into them.

These apples are incredibly easy to make. Kids will absolutely love helping dip and decorate them.

They are perfect for parties. Your guests will love these spooky treats!

You can decorate them any way that you want. Make them happy, silly, or scary. Anything goes!

Step-By-Step Instructions

Ingredients

Ingredients needed to make Frankenstein candy apples on a white background.

  • 3 apples
  • 2 12 ounce bags of green candy melts
  • 1 12 ounce bag of dark chocolate candy melts
  • 6 candy eyes
  • 1 cup of Oreo cookie crumbs

Supplies Needed:

  • 3 bamboo sticks
  • 2 4-cup measuring cups
  • piping bag
  • parchment paper

Prep!

Wash the apples well, then pound the bamboo sticks into the top end of each apple using a mallet or meat tenderizer.

Lay out a piece of parchment paper.

Create!

An apple that's been dipped in green candy melts being held up over a measuring cup.

Pour all of the green candy melts into one measuring cup and microwave for 45 second intervals. Stir vigorously after each interval to ensure that they are fully melted and as smooth as possible.

Tilt the measuring cup to the side and roll each apple in the chocolate. Tap the end of the bamboo stick to knock off any excess. Set each apple down gently on the parchment paper.

Sprinkle the top of each apple with Oreo crumbs before the candy hardens. This will be Frankenstein’s “hair.”Three Frankenstein candy apples on a black plate with a piping bag close to one.

Let the candy set.

Add a dot of melted green chocolate on the backside of each candy eye and add two eyes to the front of each apple.

Place the dark chocolate in the second measuring cup and microwave at 45 second intervals until completely melted and smooth, stirring after each interval.

Pour the melted chocolate into a piping bag.

Cut a very small piece off the end of the piping bag.

Gently pipe a smile, eyebrows, nose, and stitches onto the front of each apple. Let the chocolate set.

Present!

Once the chocolate is set, these apples are ready to serve. Enjoy!

Tips and Techniques

  • The candy coating technique used in this recipe can be used with any color or designs that you choose. 
  • If you are not serving the apples right away, store them in the refrigerator to prevent melting. Candy apples last about 3 days in the refrigerator.

Apples that are more on the tart side work best for candy apples since the coating will have plenty of sugar in it already. Make sure your apples are fresh and not bruised for the best results.
