The most important factor when making a really good steak is a great cut of meat that is cooked just perfectly. While my steak-cooking skills are ever improving, one thing that I do have down pat, is steak toppings. I love butter on steak.
Compound steak butter is super easy to make and a delicious way to add some extra flavor. For me, it all started with this Gorgonzola Herb Steak Butter and just keeps progressing.
My latest compound butter recipe is for this Garlic Herb Steak Butter. It’s not only delicious on top of a steak, but can be used in many other ways as well. It’s perfectly suitable for those following a low carb, keto, or gluten free diet.
Why This Recipe Works
- Rich butter, fresh garlic and herbs add amazing depth of flavor to a perfectly cooked steak.
- This recipe can be made ahead of time and even frozen to be used as needed.
- Leftover steak butter can also be used on bread, potatoes, scrambled eggs, and a variety of other vegetables.
How to Make Garlic Herb Steak Butter
Prep!
You’ll want to set the butter out ahead of time so that it can come to room temperature. This will make it so much easier to blend.
Mince the garlic and parsley.
Create!
Add all the ingredients to a small bowl and mash with a fork until well combined.
Present!
You can serve the butter as is or you can place the butter onto a piece if plastic wrap, cover it, and roll into a log. Place into the refrigerator (or freezer) until firm.
To serve, slice the log into pats of butter and place on a small serving dish or in a small bowl.
Alternatively, if you’d like to form it into shapes, I recommend using silicone candy molds. Refrigerate or freeze until firm, then gently pop out the shapes and place on a small serving plate.
Place the butter on top of a hot steak and let the sauce it forms melt all over. This butter is also amazing on vegetables.
