An Irish Latte is the one after dinner coffee beverage that I will order when eating out. I’m a big fan of Bailey’s Irish Cream.
However, we don’t eat out too often at nicer restaurants that actually offer an Irish Latte on their menu.
Since making a homemade recipe for Irish Cream Coffee Creamer, I decided it was the perfect time to make a homemade Irish Latte, as well.
This recipe does contain alcohol.
Why This Recipe Works
This is an easy to make homemade latte. You need just 3 ingredients and about 10 minutes, including brewing time, to make this beverage.
It tastes just as good as one you could order in a restaurant, but it is a much better value to make it at home.
You can adjust the ingredients to suite your own tastes for the perfect latte every time!
Step-By-Step Instructions
Ingredients
- 1-2 shots espresso (or 4-5 ounces strong brewed coffee): for a stronger latte, use 2 shots of espresso.
- 1-2 ounces Irish cream liqueur: I prefer Bailey’s brand. Again, use more or less depending on how strong you’d like your latte to be.
- 3-4 ounces Irish Cream Coffee Creamer (or milk, half-and-half or heavy cream): the Irish Cream Coffee Creamer does not contain alcohol but gives the latte even more of the classic Irish cream flavor. It also adds sweetness to the latte.
The entire recipe and instructions can also be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post. You can also print the recipe from the card, if needed.
Prep!
There is no significant prep work for this recipe except to brew your expresso or coffee.
Create!
Add your espresso or strong brewed coffee to a mug along with the Irish cream liqueur.
Use a frother or steam wand that is attached to your espresso maker to froth your creamer or milk. If you don’t have a steam wand, you can warm the creamer or milk on the stove top until steaming, then froth with a frother or whisk.
Pour the creamer or milk into the mug with the coffee.
Present!
Enjoy hot.
Tips & Techniques
- Use 2 shots of espresso for a stronger drink. You can swap out espresso for strong-brewed coffee, if needed.
- Adjust the amount of Irish cream liqueur and Irish Cream Coffee Creamer to taste.
- Use milk, half-and-half or heavy cream instead of the creamer for a less sweet beverage.
