- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 pound salmon fillets
- salt
- pepper
- 1/2 cup orange juice (fresh squeezed from 1 approximately 1 orange)
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch (whisked with 1 teaspoon water, optional for a thicker glaze)
Heat the butter or olive oil in a large skillet on medium-high.
1 tablespoon butter
Season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper and add to the pan, skin side up. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown on top. Flip and cook an additional 3-4 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches an internal temp 145°F on a meat thermometer inserted into the center of the thickest portion.
1 pound salmon fillets, salt, pepper
Remove from the skillet to a plate and tent with foil to keep warm. Return the skillet to the stove top and lower the heat to medium.
Whisk together the orange juice, honey, soy sauce, garlic and cornstarch slurry, if using.
1/2 cup orange juice, 2 tablespoons honey, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 cloves garlic, 1 teaspoon cornstarch
Add to the same skillet that you cooked the salmon in and cook until hot. The mixture will thicken in about 30-60 seconds if using cornstarch.
Return the salmon to the pan and coat with the sauce. Add additional orange slices, if desired.
Tips and Techniques
- For a thicker glaze-like sauce, use the optional cornstarch slurry. For a thinner sauce that will not thicken, omit the slurry.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Consume within 2-3 days.
