  • Combine the rolled oats, dark cocoa powder, milk, and maple syrup in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir until well blended.
    1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats, 1 tablespoon dark chocolate cocoa powder, 1/2 cup whole milk, 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • Microwave on high for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. If all of the liquid isn’t quite absorbed, microwave in 15 second increments until the oatmeal reaches the desired thickness.
  • Stir in the peanut butter.
    1 tablespoon peanut butter
  • Top with extra peanut butter, chocolate chips and/or chopped peanuts, if desired.

Notes

Stove Top Instructions

To make this oatmeal on the stove top, add all of the ingredients except for the peanut butter to a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook until the oatmeal reached the desired thickness, about 5 minutes. Pour the oatmeal into a bowl and stir in the peanut butter. Top as desired.

Tips and Techniques

  • Adding chocolate chips to this recipe will increase the sugar content.
  • You can make this recipe dairy free by using dairy free milk and dairy free chocolate chips, if desired.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.  Consume within 3 days.
