Truffle Butter is an elegant way to elevate the flavor of the foods you love. It’s made with truffle zest, that contains real truffles.

We choose to use truffle zest over truffle oils because many truffle oils are not made with real truffles. While you can make this butter from grated, whole black truffles, they are very expensive and need be be used within just a few days.

Truffle zest is best used within 1-2 months so you get more time to try it on other recipes like Truffle Risotto and Truffle Mac and Cheese, before it starts to lose it’s flavor.

Why This Recipe Works

Making compound butters is a quick and easy process. This recipe only requires 2 ingredients and a few minutes to prepare.

It has an amazing, deep, earthy flavor. The truffle zest we use contains real truffles for an authentic taste.

The recipe is extremely versatile. Pretty much any savory food that you would use butter on, you can use truffle butter on. Some of the most common uses for truffle butter include steak, chicken, pasta, risotto, roasted vegetables, scrambled eggs, bread, toast and popcorn.

Step-By-Step Instructions

Ingredients

Ingredients needed to make truffle butter on a light colored background with text overlay.

  • 8 tablespoons salted butter (room temperature): if you only have unsalted butter, you can add 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
  • 1 teaspoon truffle zest (or to taste): I prefer to use truffle zest over truffle oil after learning that many truffle oils on the market don’t actually contain real truffles. Truffle zest is made with real truffle powder and a few other ingredients.

The entire recipe and instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post. You can print the recipe from the card, if needed.
