I will admit that I didn’t even try tartar sauce for the first time until I was well into adulthood. Then, we had to make it in culinary arts school and I realized just how delicious it actually is.

Tartar sauce may not look or sound like the most appealing thing to eat, but this creamy, tangy sauce is the ideal complement too fried foods, especially seafood recipes like Fried Cod and Shrimp Cakes.

The best part about making this zesty condiment homemade is you can adapt it to your own tastes and preferences.

Why This Recipe Works

Making your own tartar sauce is quick and easy. It only requires 7 ingredients and a few minutes to whip up a batch.

It tastes delicious! Because it’s made fresh, with all of your favorite ingredients, you know you will enjoy it.

This recipe is easily adaptable. You can add or omit any ingredient to suite your own tastes. Some recipes call for chopped hard boiled eggs, onion, shallots, mustard, or other herbs like tarragon, basil and/or parsley.
