Published June 22, 2019 by Lauren Vavala

Thanks for sharing!

The summer 2019 FabFitFun subscription box is full of fun, useful items perfect for the season! Check out my review as well as all of the potential items you may receive if you sign up for your own box. It’s only $49.99 for over $300 worth of goodies!

I seriously count down the days until I finally receive my FabFitFun subscription box each season. Summer lifestyle subscription boxes are usually my favorite. Anything beachy, shimmery, and bold in color is right up my alley for the season. This box wasn’t my favorite, but I do love a few items and, as always, it’s an incredible value.

For those not familiar with FabFitFun, I’ll try to explain how it all works and answer any questions you might have. If you already know the deal, then skip on ahead to check out all of the items!

What is FabFitFun?

FabFitFun is a women’s lifestyle subscription box that ships quarterly. Each box is curated for the season and contains fashion, beauty, home, travel, fitness, food items, and more!

Each season, they also include a magazine explaining all of the items and even some articles on how to use some of them. It’s actually one subscription box insert that I look forward to checking out!

Can I Customize My FabFitFun Summer 2019 Box Contents?

Summer 2019 FabFitFun box with all of the items laid outside

Yes, although customization closes before boxes start to ship. Each quarter, subscribers get to choose some of the items they will receive. If you become an annual subscriber, you get to customize your box even more!

I also love that some quarters, FabFitFun allows you to add on additional choice items for much lower than the original cost. This option was available for the Summer 2019 FabFitFun box, and I absolutely took advantage of it this time around – more on that later!

In addition to being able to add on additional choice items, FabFitFun also opens a window of time where you can purchase add-ons for significantly lower prices than the retail cost. I try to take advantage of this, but didn’t find anything I absolutely had to have this time around. Annual subscribers get first dibs and usually the best stuff is sold out before they open it up to everyone else.

An extra perk of buying an additional choice item or add-on items, is that your FabFitFun Summer 2019 box will be shipped in the first wave. I do feel I got mine pretty late though this time around. I’m not sure why.

** Keep in mind that the window to customize your items closes before boxes ship. If you sign up after the window is closed, you won’t get to choose items until the next season’s box.

How Much Does FabFitFun Cost?

FabFitFun is regularly $49.99 a quarter. Each box contains over $200.00 in items (usually well over)! You can also pay for a year (4 boxes) upfront for a total of $179.99 which saves you $20.00 over the year and also gives you additional benefits including:

  • more customization
  • access to Add-ons before anyone else
  • earlier shipping

You can save $10.00 off of your first box by CLICKING HERE!

Now that we got through all that, let’s see what’s in this season’s box!

Summer 2019 Subscription Box Review

Please keep in mind that some items will vary and that you will not have the ability to choose items at this time. The window to choose items is only open for a short period of time, before boxes start shipping out.

I will, however, tell you what other items you may receive should you sign up for a subscription before the FabFitFun Summer 2019 box sells out.

Spiritual Gangsta Maya Kimono ($60)

Close up of the Spiritual Gangsta Maya Kimono from FabFitFun

This kimono was one of the first items that all subscribers could choose. The other options included:

  • Sutra Professional Mini Travel Blow Dryer ($60)
  • Vix Paula Hermanny Lotus Towel ($50)
  • Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream and Shower Cream-Gel ($45)

I chose the kimono because in photos it looked like it could be worn as a robe. I don’t feel like it’s a very summery item because it’s so dark, but it is pretty.

However…it’s kind of an odd fit. The ties for the waist are really high up. When tied, it flares open right under the tie, so I’m definitely not going to be able to use it as a robe like I was hoping. Opened, it looks much better.

I was hoping the booklet would have some images of people wearing it, but it doesn’t. I did an image search and it looks like everyone is leaving it open. Hopefully I’ll get some use out of it, but I just don’t love it.

West Elm Indigo Tie Dye Bowls ($39)

This was the second item that all subscribers could have chosen. The other options are:

  • 111Skin Rose Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Mask Set ($160)
  • Xo Sienna Black Felt Letter Board ($35)
  • Summer & Rose Navy Diamond Tote ($50)

This group of choices seems really uneven. I chose the $39 bowls over the $160 facial masks!

I just liked the bowls. We are moving soon and I’m hoping to have (or renovate) a bright kitchen with lots of white and navy blue. I already have a ton of masks, so this was an easy decision.

What was not an easy decision was if I wanted the bowls or the tote.

I ended up adding the tote for an extra $10. And, I love it! It’s perfect for summer and really great quality!

Jennifer Zeuner Star Double Necklace ($50)

The final items that all users could choose from were this necklace or:

  • Burn 60 Resistance Bands ($34)
  • Odeme What a Pair Set of 2 Silicone Wine Glasses ($25)

I already have a new set of bands and have no use for the silicone wine glasses, so I chose the necklace.

It’s dainty and pretty, but I highly doubt it’s worth $50. It’s gold plated stainless steel. So, while I wouldn’t pay $50 for the necklace alone, I would pay $50 for the necklace (which I intend to wear) and all of these other items. This is why I love FabFitFun so much!

Eyeko London Eye Do Black Liquid Eyeliner ($22)

Only annual subscribers were able to choose their items in this category. The other choices are:

  • Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream ($28) – I was hoping for this but didn’t get it.
  • Mystery Item with a value of $24+

I actually like this brand of eyeliner, so I’m happy to have gotten it again. It’s a basic black liquid eyeliner but it lasts all day.

Invisibobble Duo Pack ($16)

All subscribers will receive this item.

Marketed as the traceless hair ring. Apparently that means that it won’t leave creases in your hair when you remove it.

I don’t pull my hair up much at all these days, except at bedtime so these are just ehh…whatever for me.

Doctor Rogers Restore Healing Balm ($30)

Annual subscribers could also choose between this balm or:

  • Coola Organic 30 Makeup Setting Sunscreen Spray ($36)
  • Intelligent Nutrients Refining Micro Polish ($37) – I would have preferred this.

This is like a natural version of petroleum jelly. Kind of a one balm fixes all type deal. I have never used petroleum jelly, nor do I ever find myself using these natural versions.

For me, this would be something I might be more likely to use in the winter. When my skin or lips gets really dry. But, it’s a tiny little tube. We’re talking 0.5 ounces…for $30. I don’t know what kind of magic this stuff can work, but if it blows my mind, I’ll come back to let you know.

Grace & Stella Rose Facial Spray ($25.95)

All subscribers will receive this item.

I’m on the fence about this item as well. I don’t know if it’s a summer item for me, or if it would suit me better in the winter.

I’m not even sure I’m going to open it. I may end up gifting it.

Generation Clay Ultra Violet Brightening Purple Clay Mask next to Whish Exfoliating Foot Mask gold package on a white background

Generation Clay Ultra Violet Brightening Purple Clay Mask ($39)

All subscribers will also receive this item.

This stuff is showing up everywhere lately!. I actually just used a sample of it that I got in my Ipsy bag. My skin did look and feel really great after I used it. A few days later, I started breaking out all over my face, which never happens to me.

I’m not sure if it’s from the mask or the increase in humidity here lately, or something else all together. I’m going to try it again once my skin clears up and see what happens.

Whish Exfoliating Foot Mask ($32)

All subscribers will also receive this item.

Now this is a summer item! You just put it on your feet at night and sleep with it on. Then, in the morning, poof! Softer feet!

I’m looking forward to trying this one out asap!

Summer 2019 FabFitFun Final Thoughts

All of the items from my Summer 2019 FabFitFun box laid out on the black and white kimono

I think it’s pretty obvious that this box didn’t wow me like the spring box did. But, that’s the nature of subscription boxes. Usually when I don’t love a box, I find that it seems everyone else does.

While I do love a few items, some were just okay, and others I might not ever use and may end up gifting.

But, since reviews are just a matter of personal opinion, let’s talk about value of the Summer 2019 FabFitFun box.

  1. Is this seasons box worth the $49.99 that I paid for it? In my opinion, absolutely. I received $314.00 worth of items for a total of $49.99. For me, what makes a box “worth it” is if I will use the large majority of the products. While I don’t love the entire box this quarter, I will still use enough of the items to make the cost well worth it.
  2. Next, does this box fit the season? I’m a little on the fence this quarter. The print on the kimono, which is one of my high value items, isn’t really super summery to me, but the rest could be. Some items I feel are things I would be more likely use more in the winter though.
  3. Does this box hit on Fab, Fit, and Fun? The box always hits on “fab” and “fun” for me. There is the possibility of getting resistance bands, but I didn’t get them (nor do I need them), so there really was no “fit” element in my box.
