Spiralized Sweet Potato with Brown Sugar Honey Butter

Published September 10, 2020 by Lauren Vavala

Thanks for sharing!

This super easy recipe for Spiralized Sweet Potato with Brown Sugar Honey Butter is a beautiful side dish to serve with most any meal all year long. You can also enjoy it as a vegetarian main dish, or add chicken or beef to these noodles to make a heartier and more filling dinner.

As soon as I first saw spiralized vegetables, I knew I had to have them. I was a vegetarian for over 10 years and think I might have stuck with it even longer if there were more options like we have now.

I definitely was not a fan of spaghetti, which seemed to be the go-to vegetarian option at restaurants along with salad. If there would have been zucchini or sweet potato noodles, like in this Spiralized Sweet Potato recipe or Zoodles Mac and Cheese, I would have been all over it.

Things are definitely more creative and tastier now, and this recipe is an easy example of how you can enjoy vegetables in a delicious, yet fun, way.

Why This Recipe Works

From start to finish this dish takes just about 20 minutes to make.

It pairs perfectly alongside most meats and seafood or can be enjoyed on it’s own as a vegetarian meal.

You can easily adapt this recipe to fit your own taste or needs. Enjoy is as is, or add chicken or beef and maybe even some cheese to bulk it up into a main dish for dinner.

How To Make Spiralized Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients

Ingredients for spiralized sweet potato and brown sugar honey butter

  • Be sure to set your butter out ahead of time so that it can come to room temperature. This will make it much easier to blend.
  • My honey is from Peachblossom Apiaries in Maryland. It’s not as overly sweet as a lot of honey you find in grocery stores. If you use a local honey (which I highly recommend!), you may find that you need to use a little extra.

The full recipe and instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Prep!

Preheat your oven to 400°F.

Spiralize the sweet potatoes. I used the fettuccine blade on my electric spiralizer (mine is part of the Ninja Kitchen System) You can use a manual spiralizer, if that’s what you have. You may need to cut your sweet potatoes into smaller or thinner pieces to fit.

Create!

There are just a few simple steps to make this recipe:

  1. Toss the sweet potato noodles with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  2. Bake 8-10 minutes.
  3. Make the Brown Sugar Honey Butter.

Pro Tip: you can enjoy the roasted sweet potato noodles right out of the oven, if you’d rather not use the butter. You can also top them with any other sauces or cheese like you would a pasta dish.

FAQ’s

What Is The Best Spiralizer Sweet Potatoes?

An electric spiralizer makes it much easier to spiralize sweet potatoes. You can use a manual spiralizer, but will have to put in a bit more work to get it done. With either option, you may need to cut your sweet potatoes into smaller pieces to get them to fit into the appliance.

How Do You Cook Spiralized Sweet Potatoes?

You can cook spiralized sweet potatoes in all the same ways you would cook any other kind of sweet potato (baked, sautéed, boiled, etc), but they typically cook much faster due to their thinner size.

Can You Freeze Spiralized Sweet Potatoes?

Yes, you can freeze raw spiralized sweet potatoes. Allow to fully thaw before cooking.
