If you’ve been following me for awhile, then you know that I’ve been maintaining a fairly strict keto diet since November 2018 and have a long history with low carb dieting. You might find it surprising that I haven’t really eaten radishes much even though they are low carb and keto friendly.

It wasn’t until it was mentioned in a keto Facebook group that “radishes taste just like potatoes!” that I got excited to try them. Before we go any further, they do NOT taste like potatoes. But, once roasted, they also don’t taste anything like raw radishes.

It’s like some cauliflower recipes – if you like cauliflower then Loaded Cauliflower Bites are a great alternative to loaded potatoes skins. But, if you don’t like cauliflower, you’re going to be let down. I hope that you enjoy roasted radishes and that it opens up a lot of delicious alternatives for you!

Why This Recipe Works

  • Radishes are becoming a popular alternative to potatoes.
  • This recipe is low carb, keto friendly and gluten free.
  • Radishes grow fast, and roasting them is an easy way to enjoy them.

How to Roast Radishes

Preheat your oven to 425°F.

Thoroughly clean your radishes. Trim off the top and bottom of each radish and cut into quarters.

Tips and Techniques for the Best Roasted Radishes

  • Store any leftovers in an air-tight container in the refrigerator. Use within 3-5 days.

FAQ’s

  • Do roasted radishes taste like potatoes? No, not at all and the texture is more like a roasted apple than a potato. Once roasted, the flavor of the radishes does change so they don’t taste like raw radishes either. They have a more mild flavor.
  • Are roasted radishes good for you? Yes. Radishes are low in calories and carbohydrates. They are also a good source of vitamin C.
  • Can you freeze roasted radishes? Yes, just be aware that the texture may change after they’ve been frozen.
