My fiancé and I are always both so excited for barbecue season. We always make our fair share of hot dogs, burgers, and steaks, but you can really add a lot of flavor to meats like chicken, turkey and pork with a delicious sauce like this Raspberry Barbecue Sauce. And, this Mango Barbecue Sauce is equally as good on those same meats and grilled fish dishes too!
I love to use fresh fruits and vegetables as much as I can all year round, but especially in the summer. For this recipe I took a basic homemade barbecue sauce and added in fresh, pureed raspberries. The berries give the sauce an added sweetness that’s unique but works so well. Savory and sweet all in one delicious meal!

How to Make Raspberry Barbecue Sauce
Prep!
Rinse the berries and remove any leaves.
Create!
Add the ketchup, brown sugar, white vinegar, onion powder, and garlic powder to a small bowl. Set aside.
Puree the raspberries in a blender until smooth.
If you prefer to remove the seeds, strain the raspberries through a fine mesh strainer over the bowl of barbecue sauce ingredients so as to not get many seeds in the sauce. A few may still slip through depending on the size of your strainer.
Whisk all of the ingredients until well blended. Refrigerate until needed.

We tried this tonight and LOVED it!! I’m wondering though if it can be canned and if so should it be done in a water bath or pressure canner?

Hi Angee! Unfortunately, it’s been a long time since I’ve attempted to can anything so I really can’t tell you if this would work and how to do it. It does seem as though you can can barbecue sauce – it’s the raspberry aspect of it that I’m not sure about. Sorry I can’t be of more help, but so glad to hear that you loved the recipe 🙂
