Sun Basket is hands-down my favorite meal subscription box that I’ve tried. I’ve only tried a few, but love that this one arrives with mostly organic ingredients, premium cuts of meat and seafood and still very cold with ice that is still completely frozen! They also have gluten-free, vegetarian, and paleo plans! This post is all about the first recipe from my most recent Sun Basket: Mediterranean Orzo Bowls with Pistou!

I chose the Mediterranean Orzo Bowls as my first meal because I loved the list of ingredients! Pine nuts, broccoli, sun-dried tomatoes, and goat cheese are some of my most favorite foods ever so this was a no-brainer for me! I also love that this recipe had a bit of spice to it as well but that you can control how much, if any, of the Aleppo chile flakes you use.
Sun Basket packs all the ingredients you need for each of your meals into individual labeled bags. If there is any meat or seafood you will find that underneath the bags, closer to the ice. This meal is vegetarian so everything was in the bag. All the ingredients are labeled (organic ingredients are noted) and in individual bags or containers.
The recipe card included tells you the background of the dish and ingredient choices as well as the instructions for making the dish. While they do a pretty good job at telling you what to do first, and what you can do while other things are cooking, I find it easier to read through the directions and do any prep work first. I tend to lose track of things that are cooking, while I’m chopping produce or making sauces etc.
This meal really did only take about 20 minutes, although my orzo took much longer than the directions said it would. I absolutely lovde the flavors and found that half was plenty for me.
This Mediterranean Orzo Bowl with Pistou was one of 3 meals (2 servings each) we received. I used a code to receive $30 off my first basket making it less than $40 for everything, including shipping. You can pick new meals each week or skip any weeks you want. I usually order baskets when I know we’ve got a busy week ahead of us since the meals usually take 30 minutes or less to prepare.
If you want to try Sun Basket for yourself the $30 code is still valid! I’d definitely recommend trying this meal subscription box if you prefer organic food! From my experiences so far, I really don’t think you will be disappointed in the service or the quality of the food!
