This May 2018 Chef’d Review contains 1 breakfast, 2 dinners, and 1 dessert recipe.
I’ve tried quite a few meal kit subscriptions. I love the convenience, trying new recipes, and the foodie in me just finds the whole experience fun! I recently tried Chef’d for the first time and absolutely loved it!
Chef’d does things a little bit differently. While they do offer meal kits, there is no need to sign up for a subscription. I love this because there’s also no need to remember to skip or modify a weekly order before you’re charged. Whenever you want to order, you simply go onto the Chef’d website, pick your meals, choose a delivery date, and pay.
The hardest part is actually choosing which meal kits! Chef’d has teamed up with renowned chefs and food brands from around the world and offers hundreds of choices. You can sort through meal kits by type (breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert), chef, cooking style, ingredients, collections, and diet plans!
Complete meals typically serve 2 or 4 people, but some recipes, like soups, sides, and desserts may serve up to 8 people. The prices range greatly and while I did find the meals I ordered to be more expensive than other meal kits, I also found the recipes to be more sophisticated and some of the prep work was already done for me.
Shipping is free for orders over $40.00. It’s $10.00 for orders under $40.00.

May 2018 Chef’d Review
Delivery and Packaging
My box from Chef’d arrived on time. Everything was well packaged and in perfect condition.
Meal kits were separated into individual, labeled bags.
Under the bags was a cardboard divider.
Under the divider were the proteins, pizza dough, and 5, mostly still frozen, ice packs.
Recipe cards are included.
Acai Bowl with Mixed Berries and Granola
I love that Chef’d offers breakfast recipes. I have wanted to try an acai bowl forever, but didn’t think I’d get a chance to unless we traveled somewhere that had a restaurant that served them. We don’t exactly live in foodie paradise, unfortunately.
The ingredients for this recipe included an acai puree that I’m hoping I can find in a store locally! There was also plenty of fresh berries, a banana, almond milk, and granola.
My bowl wasn’t as thick as I was expecting, but really delicious! I had extra strawberries and blueberries that my kids ate right up!
This recipe costs $18.00 for 2 servings.
Cajun Chicken Pasta
I went out to dinner once with my cousin and he ordered a dish similar to this Cajun Chicken Pasta that he let me try. Ever since then, I have wanted to replicate the recipe, but this one from Chef’d is equally as delicious!
The pasta and chicken come already cooked, so this meal is really easy to prep and cook. It literally takes maybe 10 minutes to make.
And, oh my gosh, is it flavorful! The cajun seasoning, cream, tomato sauce, and cheese make the most delicious sauce! I didn’t want to share, but I did! My fiancé really loved this recipe too!
The cost for this meal kit is $21 for 2 servings, or $35 for 4 servings.
Apple-Brandied Pork Chops with Smashed Potatoes
As much as I loved the Cajun Chicken Pasta, this Apple-Brandied Pork Chops recipe was my favorite! This was a surprise to me because I’ve never really loved any apple-pork recipe. I gave up even trying them. But this one blew me away.
The sauce really made this dish. It’s combination of shallots, apples, cream, maple syrup, brandy, and dijon mustard. I didn’t think it would mesh well with the potatoes but again, I was wrong. Everything about this was amazing and I’m so glad I ordered it!
As much as I prefer to order new meals, I would absolutely have to order this one again!
This meal kit costs $24.00 for 2 servings or $44 for 4 servings.
As soon as I saw that Chef’d offered desserts, I knew I had to order one. I had a hard time deciding which one, but finally settled on this Chocolate Babka.
I’ll admit that I was a little nervous this would end up looking like a disaster and I’d cringe having to show everyone, but thankfully the directions made it easy and I actually had fun making it!
There are only 5 ingredients. Pizza dough, an entire container of Nutella, loads of mini chocolate chips, and sugar! The flour was just used to make rolling out the dough easier and they also sent a sheet of parchment paper!
This is a rich dessert! It smells like fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, but has a texture and taste of chocolate-hazelnut bread. It was amazing!
This meal kit costs $25 for 8 servings.
