This Maple Brown Sugar Glazed Salmon recipe is made with the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. The glaze is simple to prepare and elevates the flavor of the fish without overpowering it.

Ingredients

Ingredients needed to make brown sugar maple glazed salmon with text overlay.

  • 4 6-ounce salmon filets: high-quality, wild-caught salmon is the best option, if possible.
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup: honey can be used in place of maple syrup.
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce: low sodium soy sauce can be used, if preferred. 
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Step-By-Step Instructions

Prep!

If you are using frozen salmon, be sure it’s fully thawed first.

Place one oven rack in the center of the oven and a second oven rack at the top for broiling later.

Preheat your oven to 425°F.

Create!

Pat the salmon dry with paper towels and place on a baking sheet. You can line the baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easier cleanup, if preferred.

Whisk together the brown sugar, Dijon mustard, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, garlic powder and pepper.

Lightly brush the salmon with a thin layer of glaze. There will be a good amount of the glaze remaining at this point.

Bake on the center rack of the oven for 10-12 minutes or until the salmon reaches 135°F on a meat thermometer inserted into the center of the thickest portion.

Brush the salmon lightly with the glaze again. Turn the oven off, turn the broiler on, and place the salmon under the broiler for 1-3 minutes to caramelize the glaze and bring the salmon’s internal temperature up to 145°F on the meat thermometer. Keep a close eye on the salmon while under the broiler, as the glaze can burn quickly.
