Honey Barbecue Sauce is a simple homemade recipe for a sweet and tangy sauce that can be used in all types of ways. From a baste for grilled meats and vegetables, to a dip for chicken nuggets, to a mix in for pulled pork, this BBQ sauce has it covered!

Homemade is always best and the same is true for this super simple homemade Honey Barbecue Sauce.

It’s a rich, sweet, tangy sauce that can be used in all of the same ways you would use your favorite store-bought sauces.

Try it as a baste on grilled recipes like Chipotle-Honey Barbecue Ribs or Grilled Smoked Beef Sausage Skewers, as a dip for Chicken Tenders or Chicken Nuggets, or mix in into shredded pork or chicken to use on sandwiches.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

There is no significant prep work for this recipe.

Create!

Whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, honey, white vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder and smoked paprika.

Taste and adjust as desired.

Chef’s Note: you can simmer the sauce over medium heat to dissolve and blend the sugar in better and to thicken sauce, if needed.

  • The sauce can be simmered over medium heat to help dissolve the sugar and thicken the sauce, if needed.
  • Increase or decrease the amount of honey to alter the sweetness of the sauce.
  • Use regular paprika if you don’t want smoke flavor in your sauce.
  • Store in a jar with a lid or an airtight container in the refrigerator. Consume within 2 weeks.
  • This sauce can be frozen for up to 6 months.
