When you search for Halloween cookies online, most of the recipes seem to be sugar cookies with fun Halloween icing. It’s definitely cute and delicious, but what about those of us who want more chocolate?
I decided to take chocolate chip cookies and decorate them in a fun way for Halloween. Since our kids aren’t trick-or-treating this year, I am pulling out all the stops to make this holiday as special as possible.
Why This Recipe Works
You can use any chocolate chip cookies that you like. Make them with your family chocolate chip cookies recipe, a recipe you love from a cookbook or online, or even cookies made from pre-made store-bought chocolate chip cookie dough.
I don’t have a basic chocolate chip cookie recipe because there are a million out there already. I love Nestle Tollhouse’s classic recipe that you can find on the back of the bag of their chocolate chips, this recipe that I found on AllRecipes.com many, many years ago, and pretty much any store-bought dough. In these photos I used Immaculate Baking Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough – it’s the best gluten free cookie dough.
You can easily change up this recipe to suit any occasion. For Halloween, I dipped the cookies into black and purple candy melts and used Halloween sprinkles. You could also dip them into dark chocolate, white chocolate, or any color of melted candy melts to suite any holiday or occasion.
This is a great recipe to have the kids help with. They can dip the cookies in the candy or chocolate and sprinkle on whatever decorations they love.
