When Cents of Style contacted me regarding their latest campaign, I took a look over their T-Shirts and just had to have this Be The Good shirt! It’s a nice, comfortable reminder to help keep me motivated on one of my most important New Year’s resolutions!
I always have this urge to give back, but haven’t always felt like I was able to in ways that would actually help. As 2016 came to an end, I started looking for ways to give back that wouldn’t cost any money. Once you actually start looking, there are so many ways to help!
These are the 5 simplest, free ways to give back to your community that can really make a difference for others!
Donate Used Clothing
This is a really easy way to give back. You might have a few pieces of clothing you never wear or maybe a ton? Baby and kids clothing that have become outgrown? Shoes? All of these items can easily be dropped off at a clothing donation box (sometimes you can find these in parking lots) or a donation center like Goodwill or the Salvation Army.
If you have extra time you can spare, volunteering is one of the most helpful ways to give back! There are so many options! You can volunteer at hospitals, schools, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, animal shelters and more!
Help Neighbors and/or Family Members
If you have older neighbors, or friends/family members who need a little help with tasks you can handle, offer! This can be anything from offering to shovel a driveway, rake leaves, cut grass, weed flower gardens, babysit, or walk dogs.
Take Care of the Planet
Reduce, reuse, recycle! You’ve heard it all before, I’m sure. It’s easy and free and will help take care of the planet for future generations to come!
If you’re a parent, aunt, uncle, teacher, etc, help teach children to give back as well! We do simple things like donate gifts at Christmas time and take toys to the children’s hospital. If your children are young, recycling is an easy place to start. For older kids, they can help neighbors with raking leaves or join you volunteering (depending on age requirements).
