Here we are again. Another Home Chef review. The third one in a month! I guess that means it’s good, right?
If you aren’t familiar with what Home Chef is, or how it works, don’t worry! I’ll explain everything at the bottom of this post, including an amazing discount where you will save a big chunk of money off your first box. I’m pretty sure they offer such an amazing discount because they know you’re going to love it and keep ordering. They sure have my attention!
This week I kept things a bit lighter, as I was getting a couple other boxes for review, as well. I decided to try the salad for the first time, ordered the smoothie of the week (no surprise there), and one other meal.
Everything was well packaged, as usual, and arrived on time!
Let’s get to the food!
January 2018 Home Chef Subscription Box Review
Buffalo Chicken and Blue Cheese Salad
If you’ve been following Delicious Little Bites for while, you know that I love Buffalo Chicken! So, I guess it’s not shocking that I’d order the Buffalo Chicken and Blue Cheese Salad instead of a more elaborate meal.
Home Chef sent two huge heads of Romaine lettuce and all the fixings for the salad. You basically add as much or as little of each ingredient as you like!
I loved that the chicken comes already cooked and diced. Putting together each salad was super fast and easy. These are great options for when you need a quick lunch whether at home or at work!
I absolutely loved this! It looked as though it would be really basic, but the chicken was delicious and everything went really well together.
I would order the salad option again sometime, but I do prefer the larger meals for the most part.
Sirloin Steak with Blue Cheese Compound Butter
You can’t really go wrong with any of the steak meals from Home Chef. The cuts of beef are high quality, and while the recipes are typically pretty simple, they are absolutely delicious!
The potatoes and green beans were so easy to make, anyone can do it! And, cooking the steak just involves a little olive oil, salt. pepper, and high heat! The Blue Cheese Butter was the reason I had to have this meal. I love butter on steak and even have my own recipe for a similar Gorgonzola Herb Steak Butter!
So the verdict? A total win all around!
Blue Hawaii Smoothie
I’ve been on a huge smoothie kick lately. The smoothie ingredients that Home Chef sends are for 2 smoothies, but I have gotten 3 out of the last two boxes I’ve ordered.
These are so easy to make. All you need is a blender and ice – Home Chef has done the rest!
My only complaint is that they only offer one smoothie a week. I’ll most definitely add it every time I order, but I’m now ordering from GreenBlender (a smoothie subscription) as well because my addiction is serious!
Conclusion
All in all I am once again super happy with my third January 2018 Home Chef subscription box! I will absolutely be ordering again soon! In fact, I think my next box will be here in early February!
Try Home Chef (and save $30!)
The sign up is a little confusing, but once it’s done, navigating the site is really simple.
You have to enter your email address first. Then, you’ll answer a few questions regarding your preferences for different types of meals (vegetarian, meat, seafood), dietary preferences (low carb, low calorie), and ingredients you want or need to avoid.
The next section will ask you to fill in your mailing address, which is where I started to get confused because I hadn’t chosen my meals yet. If that wasn’t confusing enough, the next section asks for your billing information.
Don’t worry! If you’ve already decided that you want to order some of the meals that are on the menu (you can check the menu at the top left of the website before signing up), you will still be able to pick and choose exactly which meals you want. You will also be able to skip any week you want, including the first week, and add on anything extra too! You can pick your meals for up to 6 weeks out, or skip the weeks you don’t want deliveries. Home Chef offers the ability to pause your account indefinitely in the account section, so there is no need to call or email should you decide this service isn’t for you.
In addition to complete meals, Home Chef offers a salad, smoothie, and fruit basket each week!
Meals are $9.95 per serving, the salad is $7.99, and the smoothies and fruit baskets are $4.95
Shipping is free for orders over $45, and up to $10 for orders less than that. Home Chef ships to 98% of the United States.
If you’re ready to try Home Chef for yourself, you can save $30.00 off your first box automatically HERE! Stay tuned for even more Home Chef reviews coming soon!
